Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is all set to make history as he prepares to launch to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the Axiom Mission 4. The mission, a joint venture between NASA, SpaceX and ISRO, marks a significant milestone for India’s presence in space exploration.

If successful, Shubhanshu Shukla will become the second Indian to reach orbit after Rakesh Sharma in 1984- and the first Indian to visit the ISS. NASA shared the latest update on the mission confirming the revised schedule.

When Is The Axiom Mission 4 Launch?

According to NASA’s official statement, Axiom Mission 4 is scheduled to launch at 2:31 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 25 (12:01 p.m. IST). The mission will lift off from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Who Are The Crew Members?

The mission is led by Commander Peggy Whitson, a veteran astronaut while Shubhanshu Shukla will serve as mission pilot and Hungarian astronaut Tibor Kapu and Poland’s Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski will participate as mission specialists.

What’s The Destination And Docking Time?

The crew will travel aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, launched atop a Falcon 9 rocket and head to the International Space Station. The docking is expected to occur on Thursday, June 26 at approximately 7:00 a.m. EDT (4:30 p.m. IST).

Why Was The Mission Delayed?

Originally set to launch on May 29, the mission faced multiple delays due to technical repairs on the spacecraft and launchpad as well as unfavourable weather conditions. The most recent delays pushed the mission to June 8, then June 11 and finally to June 22.
