She took to Instagram and revealed what she would rather invest in at a time when luxury is often seen as a marker of success. Many on the internet could agree with her thinking.
Bengaluru techie on expenses
Living in Bengaluru, the woman is a data engineer. Going by her user ID @thinking.mori on the photo-sharing app, she shares several insights from her life on a daily basis. In one of them, she opened up about her salary and revealed how she manages her expenditure. Talking about splurging, she said that she doesn't spend her money on luxury items like the latest iPhones, fast fashion labels like Zara or even handbags.
Revealing her salary, she wrote, "All that money but also loans, so we choose experiences over objects” She hinted that she often skips certain purchases despite wanting them, such as a new phone, expensive bags or even clothes.
No iPhones, luxury car or handbag
“Experiences >> objects,” she reasoned in her reel.
The user went on to reveal a list of items that she refuses to spend money on. It includes premium purchases like the latest iPhone models, a luxury car, fancy clothes, shoes or other things.
So, what does she consider when spending money? She replied to a similar question in the comment section and wrote, "Travelling, pilates, eating well."
“I’ve travelled to 5 countries in the last 2 years. That’s what I mean when I say experiences over objects," she added in response to another comment.
She asserted that she would rather spend on things that add value to her life. Similarly, experiences matter more to her than materialistic items.
“If you know me, you know I would spend 10 lakhs on travel so what I really mean to say is you do you girl but try not to burn out,” the caption in her video read.
