BUSTED: Critics Rip 'Hypocrite' Kristi Noem By Using Her Own Words Against Her

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is getting called out for hypocrisy after dramatically changing her tune on the use of the National Guard by the president.

Noem on Sunday endorsed President Donald Trump’s use of troops in Los Angeles in response to protests against immigration arrests, claiming the deployment was necessary because of “bad decisions” by California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).

She said Trump’s decision was made for “the safety of this community.”

“And that’s one of the reasons why these National Guard soldiers are being federalized: So they can use their special skill set to keep peace,” she said on CBS’s “Face The Nation.”

But she’s also on record opposing the federalization of National Guard troops as an assault on states’ rights.

The difference?

Her previous statement came last year, when the president was a Democrat: Joe Biden.

“We will defend our rights because the last several years, we’ve seen Democrats take away our freedom of religion, our freedom of assembly, our freedom of speech,” Noem told Sean Hannity during a February 2024 Fox News interview that she herself tweeted at the time. “We can’t let them take away our states’ rights too, especially our right to protect ourselves.”

Her critics ― including Newsom ― were quick this week to offer Noem a reminder:

In the coming days, Noem will say exactly the complete opposite of everything she said in this tweet about Joe Biden.

Because they’re in a cult. https://t.co/JGa3siSSzw

Yup, only a tyrant would federalize the National Guard against the requests of a sitting, elected state governor.

She wasn't wrong. If Biden had done then what Trump is doing now, that would indeed have been a direct attack on states' rights. https://t.co/gU7mry2Z9l

Every accusation is an admission of intent.

Donald Trump has no moral right to send in troops against a governor's wishes to support his illegal arrests. Once upon a time, Kristi Noem pretended to support this principle. https://t.co/qjudhWU3p2
