Newly released files have suggested that Sarah Ferguson, formerly Duchess of York, took her daughters to visit Jeffrey Epstein shortly after his 2009 release from prison.

Freshly released documents related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein indicate that Sarah Ferguson took her daughters to visit him shortly after his release from prison in 2009, according to a report by People.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, People reported that newly surfaced emails appear to show Ferguson visited Epstein just days after he completed a jail sentence stemming from his 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor.
The revelations form part of a broader tranche of documents released by the US Department of Justice in recent weeks.
SARAH FERGUSON’s EMAILS TO EPSTEIN
The disclosures add to mounting scrutiny of the Duke and Duchess of York’s former household, which has faced renewed controversy over longstanding links with Epstein.
While the friendship between Prince Andrew and Epstein has been under examination for years, the latest documents appear to broaden the focus to include Ferguson’s relationship with the financier.
According to AFP, emails dated August 2009, a year after Epstein’s conviction, show Ferguson thanking him and referring to him as “the brother I have always wished for".
In another message from June 2010, she wrote, “You are a legend."
In one particularly effusive exchange, she told Epstein, “I really don’t have the words to describe my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness. Xx I am at your service. Just marry me."
The emails also indicate discussions about Ferguson’s financial difficulties following her 1996 divorce from Andrew.
In a 2009 message, she wrote that she “urgently needs 20,000 pounds for rent today. Any brainwaves?"
AFP reported that she later described a £15,000 loan from Epstein as a “gigantic error of judgement".
Another exchange refers to Ferguson waiting for her younger daughter, Princess Eugenie, to return from what she described as a “shagging weekend" before confirming plans.
Eugenie would have been 19, nearly 20, at the time.
PRINCE ANDREW AND THE EPSTEIN CONTROVERSY
The latest revelations come against the backdrop of Prince Andrew’s own long-running controversy.
Andrew, formally Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was stripped of his royal titles last October amid intensifying anger over his association with Epstein and allegations of sexual misconduct, which he has consistently denied.
Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while in prison awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges involving underage girls.
King Charles III subsequently ordered Andrew to vacate Royal Lodge, the 30-room Windsor estate where he had continued to live with Ferguson despite their divorce.
Ferguson also lost her duchess title as part of the wider fallout.
The couple’s daughters, though not working royals, retain their princess titles.
However, reports have indicated that they have been grappling with the reputational consequences of the steady stream of disclosures.
FERGUSON’s CHARITY SHUTS DOWN AFTER EMAIL RELEASES
The impact has also extended to Ferguson’s charitable work.
According to an Associated Press report dated 3 February, the charity she founded, Sarah’s Trust, is closing for the “foreseeable future" following the release of emails showing the depth of her friendship with Epstein.
“Our chair, Sarah Ferguson, and the board of trustees have agreed that with regret the charity will shortly close for the foreseeable future," the trust said in a statement.
“This has been under discussion and in train for some months."
The emails demonstrated Ferguson remained in contact with Epstein long after his 2008 conviction.
In one exchange from March 2011, Epstein complained about being labelled a paedophile in a newspaper article, while Ferguson expressed “deep regret" over her ties.
The following month, someone identified as “Sarah" emailed Epstein stating she “did not" and “would not" call him a “P" and that she had acted to “protect my own brand".
