Elon Musk is expected to become the first individual with a net worth exceeding $1 trillion if the company's shares perform strongly after listing.

Elon Musk is set to become the world's first trillionaire.
SpaceX raised $75 billion from investors ahead of its stock market debut, setting the stage for what is expected to be the highest-value public listing in history. In a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the space exploration and artificial intelligence company said it sold shares at $135 each, matching the price range it outlined last week.
The offering values the company at nearly $1,800,000,000,000, instantly placing SpaceX among the world’s most valuable publicly traded firms if its shares begin trading at or above that level.
The valuation would also move chief executive Elon Musk closer to another milestone. Already the world’s richest person, Elon Musk is expected to become the first individual with a net worth exceeding $1 trillion if the company’s shares perform strongly after listing.
How Much Money Did SpaceX Raise?
The company said it raised $75 billion through the sale of shares priced at $135 each. The fundraising round is among the largest ever completed ahead of a public offering and reflects strong investor appetite for one of the world’s most closely watched private technology companies. Once trading begins on the Nasdaq exchange on Friday, the market will determine whether investors are willing to pay more than the offering price.
Why Is SpaceX IPO So Significant?
At a valuation of nearly $1.8 trillion, SpaceX would rank among the most valuable companies in the world immediately upon listing. The offering is also expected to become the largest stock market debut in history by valuation, eclipsing previous blockbuster technology listings.
How Much Control Will Elon Musk Retain?
Despite becoming a public company, SpaceX will remain firmly under Elon Musk’s control. Through a combination of Class A and Class B shares, Elon Musk will own roughly 40% of the company’s equity while controlling more than 84% of its voting power. That structure gives him far greater influence than many other technology founders retain after taking their companies public.
