India and the US aim to boost economic ties through large-scale imports, expanded tech cooperation and new digital trade norms under the proposed trade pact.

India is planning to buy goods worth USD 500 billion from the United States, which will include energy products, aircraft and aircraft parts, precious metals, technology products, and coking coal, according to a joint statement.

The official statement also mentioned that both countries are planning to increase trade in technology products, including Graphics Processing Units and other goods used in data centres, and expand joint technology cooperation.

“India intends to purchase $500 billion of US energy products, aircraft and aircraft parts, precious metals, technology products and coking coal over the next five years," the statement said.

It further said that India and the US have agreed to tackle restrictive or unfair practices affecting digital trade and work towards establishing clear, strong and mutually beneficial digital trade rules under the bilateral trade agreement.
