Iran condemns US blockade as unlawful and a war crime, says it violates a Pakistan mediated ceasefire, while Trump accuses Iran of ceasefire breaches and threatens major strikes

Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry.
Shortly after US President Donald Trump accused Tehran of violating the ceasefire agreement and issued fresh threats to strike Iranian infrastructure, Iran responded sharply, saying the US naval blockade on its ports is an “unlawful and criminal" act and a breach of the Pakistan-mediated truce.
Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said in a post on X that Washington’s actions were not only a violation of the ceasefire agreement but also against international law.
“The United States’ so-called “blockade" of Iran’s ports or coastline is not only a violation of Pakistani-mediated ceasefire but also both unlawful and criminal," he wrote.

Baqaei further accused the US of imposing collective punishment on the Iranian people, calling it a “war crime and crime against humanity".
In a detailed post, he cited provisions of the UN Charter and a UN General Assembly resolution, saying the blockade constitutes an act of aggression.
“It violates Article 2(4) of the UN Charter; it constitutes an act of aggression under Article 3(c) of the UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 (1974), which explicitly includes the blockade of a state’s ports or coasts among such acts," the spokesman added.
His remarks came as Trump again claimed Iran had violated the ceasefire, alleging attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz. The US president also said American negotiators would travel to Pakistan on Monday for renewed talks, but warned of severe consequences if no agreement is reached.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the US was offering a “reasonable deal" but threatened to destroy Iranian infrastructure if it was rejected. “We’re going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran," he said, adding, “NO MORE MR. NICE GUY!"
He also said the targeted facilities would “come down fast" if Tehran refused the deal, repeating that earlier administrations should have acted against Iran.
Tensions remain high in the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran briefly reopened before shutting it again amid the stand-off. Tehran says it will not allow normal maritime traffic until Washington lifts its blockade on Iranian ports, as mediation efforts continue through Pakistan-backed talks.
