Iran has suspended the operation of all kindergartens across the country until further notice.

The decision was taken by the country’s early childhood education authority as a precautionary measure to prioritise children’s health, Iran International English reported. Authorities said strict action would be taken in case of any violations of the directive.

Officials also made it clear that, at present, ensuring the safety and well-being of children would take precedence over educational activities, indicating that normal operations would resume only once conditions are deemed safe.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said it remains uncertain whether the ongoing ceasefire with Iran will be extended, even as he expressed optimism about the progress of negotiations and the possibility of reaching a deal soon.

A 10-day ceasefire deal agreed between Lebanon and Israel took effect on Thursday (local time) (Friday 3:30 IST), after Washington announced the ceasefire, with Trump saying he was trying to set up the first-ever meeting between the leaders of the two countries.

He also hoped that militant group Hezbollah “acts nicely and well" during the 10-day ceasefire reached just hours earlier between Lebanon and Israel. “I hope Hezbollah acts nicely and well during this important period of time," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform as he arrived for a speech in Las Vegas. “It will be (a) GREAT moment for them if they do. No more killing. Must finally have PEACE!"

Iran’s foreign ministry welcomed the Israel-Lebanon truce, calling it part of the earlier two-week ceasefire deal struck between the Islamic republic and the United States to pause the Middle East war, state media reported.

Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei “welcomed the announcement of the ceasefire in Lebanon and noted that the cessation of the war in Lebanon was part of the ceasefire understanding between Iran and the United States, mediated by Pakistan", state news agency IRNA posted on Telegram.
