Islamabad and Rawalpindi suspend public and goods transport until further orders amid tight security and possible second round of US Iran talks, private cars are exempt

The district administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Sunday suspended public and goods transport services in the twin cities with immediate effect, amid preparations for a possible second round of US-Iran talks in the Pakistan’s capital.
Officials said heavy and public transport will remain off the roads until further orders. However, no specific reason was cited by the Islamabad deputy commissioner while announcing the decision.
The move comes as authorities step up security arrangements in view of expected high-level diplomatic activity in the city.
In a post on X, Rawalpindi DC wrote, “All private, public and goods transport in Rawalpindi is hereby suspended with immediate effect. Further updates will be shared."

“Private/Personal vehicles are exempted from these instructions. The suspension applies only to public and goods transport. Please cooperate with the authorities," he said.
