Vice President JD Vance is No. 2 behind President Donald Trump, but he may have been No. 1 in receiving boos at the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Milan on Friday.

The CBC’s broadcast feed caught fans in San Siro Stadium jeering the veep, who was watching with his wife, Usha. See the video here.

“Oop ... those are a lot boos for him,” broadcaster Adrienne Arsenault said. “Whistling, jeering. Some applause.”

The vibe contrasted with the mostly warm reception that the U.S. team got despite IOC fears that they too would be booed.

The negativity was on par for Vance at the Milan-Cortina Games. He drew widespread scorn online when he appeared at the U.S. women’s opening match hockey victory over Czechia on Thursday.

Vance has been getting flak for calling the press “one of the least trusted institutions” and saying journalists are “fake.”

Those boos sure sounded real, though.
