Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) called out one-time ally President Donald Trump for abandoning the core promises behind his “Make America Great Again” movement.
“MAGA is, I think people are realizing, it was all a lie,” she told YouTube host Kim Iversen. “It was a big lie for the people.”
The Trump administration, she said, is all about serving “big, big donors,” including foreign countries and large corporations, with many funneling cash to Trump’s PACs and pet projects such as his White House ballroom to win favor.
“And if they’re donating to all these things, those are the people that get the special favors, they get the government contracts, they get the pardons or somebody they love or one of their friends gets a pardon,” she said.
Greene wasn’t willing to give Trump a pass by blaming advisors or others in his inner circle.
“People always think, ‘Oh, it’s his staff.’ They want to blame everyone around him,” she said. “There may be a point where people have to come to grips with, this is Donald Trump.”
Greene said she was once a “true believer” in Trump’s MAGA movement. Indeed, she was not only a vocal supporter but was frequently by his side at campaign rallies and other events.

“America first? I was like, ‘Heck yeah!’” Greene said. “Our tax dollars shouldn’t go to any other foreign country.”
She said she opposes regime change efforts and other military interventions in the Middle East, Venezuela, Ukraine and elsewhere.
“I don’t care about any of ’em,” she said. “I care about America. I care about our problems.”
She added:
“I care about the fact that my kids, who are Gen Z, will never be able to afford life. That whole generation, they probably won’t be able to buy a house. They can’t afford health insurance. They can’t afford car insurance. Most of their jobs are going to be replaced by AI. Like, that’s the stuff I care about.”
After Trump won the election, however, MAGA turned into “whatever country Donald Trump said it was about” rather than America.
She pointed to Trump now threatening Iran as another example.
“We’ve got civil war practically breaking out in Minnesota,” she said. “Can we not care about that?”
Greene also had some harsh words for Fox News, the right-wing cable network where she was once a regular guest, as well as its viewers:
“People watching Fox News, every day, 24/7 with their volume turned all the way up in their living room and it’s so loud that you can’t hear anything else? Those are the baby boomers and God bless them, those are my parents’ generation. I love so many of the baby boomers, but they are the most brainwashed generation because they eat that crap, like, they just eat it up all day long. They’re spoon-fed the propaganda on TV.”
But she said the boomer generation doesn’t have much longer.
“And so I don’t know how the political-industrial complex is going to continue to brainwash Americans ’cuz we’re just not brainwashed anymore,” she said.
Greene was for years a far-right flamethrower and conspiracy theorist and close with Trump. The two appeared to have a falling out over Greene’s repeated calls for the release of files related to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was once a close friend of Trump.
Trump, who once promised to release those files, instead reportedly worked behind the scenes to try to block them from the public ― even dismissing them as a “Democrat hoax.”
