Iran’s foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi dismissed calls for regime change in Tehran, telling US President Donald Trump that such an attempt would be “mission impossible."

His remarks came after US President Donald Trump called on Iranians to overthrow their government as the United States and Israel carried out air strikes in what he described as a “massive and ongoing operation" targeting the Islamic regime on Saturday.

Trump made the remarks from his Mar-a-Lago resort as powerful explosions were reported in Tehran, with smoke seen rising from Pasteur Street, where the Iranian president’s office is located.

Iran responded quickly to the attacks. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard said it had launched a “first wave of a massive missile and drone strike" against Israel in retaliation.
