Pakistan Air Force’s high-power delegation on Monday reached Bangladesh capital, officials said, adding that they are likely to sign multiple agreements.
According to top security source, the seven-member delegation of the PAF will be holding their first-ever air staff talks with the Bangladesh Air Force.
The source said the meeting is focused on air cooperation, trainings and exchanging airforce ties.
They further said the officials will likely sign several MoUs and agreements for the Bangladesh Air Force pilots and technicians to receive advanced training in Pakistan.
The source said that Bangladesh is also interested to acquire Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunders.
The JF-17 Thunder is a single-engine, lightweight combat aircraft jointly developed by China’s Chengdu Aircraft Corporation (CAC) and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC).
In January, the Pakistani military said Bangladesh has expressed a “potential interest" in procuring JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from Pakistan. The potential interest in the JF-17 came during a meeting in Islamabad between Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu.
Relations between Islamabad and Dhaka warmed since the installation of the Muhammad Yunus-led government in 2024. The countries had experienced tensions after Bangladesh’s previous government initiated trials in 2010 against collaborators accused of aiding Pakistani forces during the 1971 Liberation War.
