Pakistan on Thursday rejected reports claiming that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar shared any information about Iran’s nuclear programme during his recent meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said there was no truth to allegations that Dar had passed on or discussed sensitive details about Iran’s nuclear activities during the May 29 meeting.
‘No such information was shared’
Responding to media questions about the claims, Andrabi firmly dismissed the reports, saying Pakistan had not exchanged any such information during the talks.
“No such information was shared," he said, rejecting suggestions that Dar had discussed Iran’s nuclear programme with US officials.
The clarification came after former CIA analyst Larry Johnson, citing an unnamed source, claimed Dar had a conversation with Rubio that allegedly included remarks about what Iran was prepared to do to preserve its independence. The claims were said to have “alarmed" the US side, though no official confirmation has been provided
