Pakistan’s security forces on Saturday said they killed 92 militants during counter-operations launched in response to a wave of coordinated attacks across multiple locations in Balochistan, while 15 security personnel were killed in the clashes, according to the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), The Express Tribune reported.

Citing an ISPR statement issued late Saturday, the report said militants targeted both civilians and security installations in areas including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar and Pasni.

The military claimed the attacks were aimed at disrupting public life and development in the province, alleging that 18 civilians, including women, children and elderly people, were killed in Gwadar and Kharan districts. It said security forces and law enforcement agencies carried out extensive clearance operations, killing 92 militants, including three suicide attackers, and that operations were still underway to track down those responsible.

The ISPR had earlier said 41 militants were killed in separate operations in Panjgur and Harnai on Friday, taking the total number of militants killed in Balochistan over the past two days to 133, The Express Tribune reported. Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind said several attacks were foiled due to timely action by police and the Frontier Corps.

However, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) disputed the military’s account, claiming it carried out coordinated attacks at 48 locations across 14 cities under the second phase of what it called Operation Herof.

In a statement, the BLA said it targeted military, administrative and security structures, claimed to have killed dozens of Pakistani security personnel, captured others, and taken control of multiple posts and government properties.
