Trump’s China Visit
U.S. President Donald Trump is set to wrap up his visit to China. Despite differences on key issues — such as Taiwan — he attempted to paint a rosy picture as he hailed the ties with Beijing as “better than ever before".
He said Washington and Beijing had agreed on not allowing Tehran to pursue nuclear weapons, adding the two countries called for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
“We made some fantastic trade deals, great for both countries… He is a great man I respect greatly… We have settled a lot of problems that a lot of people would not have been able to settle… We discussed Iran and want that crisis to end. We don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon and want the Straits open…" Trump said, according to news agency ANI via Reuters.
The U.S. President said he had invited Xi Jinping to Washington, adding he would be walking back “very impressed".
“President Xi will be visiting on September 24th… The visit will be reciprocal and he will be walking back very impressed, like I am with China…" he said.
