At least one person has been killed and several others injured in a school shooting at a secondary school in Kahramanmaraş Province on Wednesday, according to local media reports.

The attack took place at Ayşer Çalık Secondary School, where an armed assailant opened fire, prompting panic and an immediate emergency response. Ambulances and medical teams were quickly dispatched to the scene as authorities worked to assist the घायल.

Local governor Mükerrem Ünlüer confirmed the fatality, saying, “Unfortunately, there’s a fatality," in remarks reported by Turkish media. Reports indicate that at least six people were wounded in the attack, though officials have yet to release a final confirmed casualty count.

Security forces swiftly secured the school premises and surrounding area, while an investigation was launched to determine the identity and motive of the attacker. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the suspect has been apprehended.

The incident comes just a day after another shooting in Türkiye in which a gunman wounded 16 people before taking his own life, adding to growing concerns over public safety.

Officials say further details will be shared as the investigation continues.
