The denial came after Trump said he had communicated directly with Iranian officials and suggested Tehran's leaders had sought a halt to US military strikes.

US President Donald Trump
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that he spoke directly with Iranian officials, calling the assertion “completely false" and describing it as a “cover to avoid war." The denial came after Trump told Fox News that he had communicated directly with Iranian representatives and suggested Tehran’s leaders had sought a halt to ongoing US military strikes.
According to Iranian state-linked media, the IRGC issued a statement strongly denying that any direct contact had taken place between Iranian officials and the US president. The force described Trump’s claim as “completely false" and said it was being used as a “cover to avoid war," according to the report.
Trump’s comments were made amid escalating military tensions between Washington and Tehran. The US President had said Iranian leaders requested a pause in American bombing operations and warned that strikes could resume if no agreement was reached. He also told Fox News that Israel was not involved in the latest US military strikes on Iranian targets.
The IRGC’s denial creates a direct contradiction between the two sides at a time when military exchanges between the United States and Iran have intensified.
The exchange came hours after the United States launched a fresh round of strikes on multiple Iranian targets. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the attacks were carried out at Trump’s direction and described them as “self-defense strikes" in response to what it called Iran’s continued aggression. The latest operation marked the second consecutive night of US military action against Iran, further escalating tensions despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to prevent a wider conflict in West Asia.
The dispute over communications comes as Washington and Tehran continue to offer sharply different accounts of diplomatic contacts. Similar disagreements have surfaced in recent months, with Iranian officials previously denying Trump’s claims of direct or productive talks between the two countries.
