US President Donald Trump shared videos on Truth Social showing Iranian-Americans and Iranians chanting messages of thanks and support for US actions against Iran, projecting confidence in his administration’s approach even as tensions around the Strait of Hormuz resurfaced.

In a post shortly after sharing the videos, Trump posted an image that read, “The best is yet to come."

The messaging signalled optimism from the US President despite uncertainty surrounding the fragile ceasefire and ongoing negotiations linked to the Iran conflict.

Trump’s social media posts came at a time when Washington and Tehran remain locked in a tense standoff over nuclear issues, maritime security, and the future of a ceasefire that is due to expire soon.

IRAN TIGHTENS CONTROL OVER STRAIT OF HORMUZ

On Saturday, Iran said it was tightening control over the Strait of Hormuz, warning mariners that the vital global energy route was again closed.

The move added to uncertainty around the conflict, as the waterway is a crucial transit point for global oil and gas shipments.

Trump said Tehran could not use the waterway as leverage against Washington, stating that Iran could not “blackmail the United States" by attempting to shut down the strategic passage.

Tehran said the move was in response to what it described as a continued US blockade of Iranian ports, calling it a violation of the ceasefire.

Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said Iran’s navy was prepared to deliver “new bitter defeats" to its adversaries.

Shipping sources cited by Reuters said at least two vessels reported coming under fire while attempting to pass through the strait.

India later summoned the Iranian ambassador in New Delhi, expressing deep concern after two Indian-flagged ships were reportedly targeted in the waterway.

Iranian state media quoted the Supreme National Security Council as saying Iranian oversight of the strait included requiring payments tied to security, safety, and environmental protection services.

CEASEFIRE UNCERTAINTY AND NEGOTIATION QUESTIONS

The latest developments have raised doubts about the stability of the ceasefire and the prospects for renewed talks between Washington and Tehran.

Trump said the US was having “very good conversations" with Iran but warned that fighting could resume if a longer-term agreement is not reached before the ceasefire expires on Wednesday.

Maritime sources, as cited by Reuters, said merchant ships had received radio warnings from Iran’s navy stating that passage through the waterway was not permitted, reversing earlier signs that shipping activity might resume.

Earlier, maritime trackers had shown a convoy of eight tankers moving through the narrow corridor, marking the first major movement of vessels since the US-Israeli war on Iran began seven weeks ago.

Iran’s armed forces command later said transit through the strait had returned to strict Iranian military control, citing what it described as repeated US violations and acts of “piracy" under a blockade framework.

TALKS REMAIN UNCERTAIN AS PRESSURE BUILDS

Despite Trump saying negotiations would take place, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said no date had been set for the next round of talks, noting that a framework of understanding must first be agreed upon.

Trump reiterated Washington’s key position, saying, “The main thing is that Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. You cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon, and that supersedes everything else."

Reuters reported that US proposals have included a 20-year suspension of Iran’s nuclear activity, while Tehran has suggested a shorter halt of three to five years.

Sources indicated that compromise options may involve reducing part of Iran’s nuclear stockpile, the report claimed.

Meanwhile, Russia’s state nuclear energy company Rosatom said it was prepared to assist with the removal of enriched uranium from Iran, signalling international interest in facilitating a diplomatic solution.
