US President Donald Trump has said global oil prices are expected to fall once tensions involving Iran are resolved, while insisting that Tehran will never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon.
Speaking at a public event, Trump described the situation in the Middle East as a key priority and claimed the United States had already taken steps to prevent Iran from advancing its nuclear programme.
“The oil prices are going to tumble as soon as I finish up with Iran," Trump said during his address.
The US President also explained why he decided to remain in Washington instead of attending his son’s wedding this weekend, saying the developments surrounding Iran required his presence at the White House.
“I said, we are going to have to journey down to the Middle East," Trump said. “They said why? I said because Iran is going to have a nuclear weapon if we don’t stop them."
Trump further claimed that the threat had already been contained.
“We have stopped them. They are never going to have a nuclear weapon. It will be over with soon," he added.

Reports Hint At Possible Fresh US Military Action
Trump’s comments come amid growing speculation that Washington could be preparing another round of military action against Iran as diplomatic efforts remain uncertain.
According to media reports, the Trump administration is preparing for a “fresh round" of US military strikes on Iran. CBS News reported that Trump, along with several senior members of the US military and intelligence community, cancelled Memorial Day weekend plans amid expectations of possible military action.
Trump also cut short his planned weekend stay in New Jersey and returned to Washington as tensions escalated. Intelligence officials have also reportedly been placed on standby and asked to remain available.
According to Axios, Trump recently held discussions with senior national security officials to review military options amid frustration over stalled negotiations with Tehran.
Iran, meanwhile, has accused the United States of making “excessive demands" during ongoing talks, further complicating diplomatic efforts.
Middle East Tensions Keep Oil Markets On Edge
The continuing tensions in the region have kept global oil markets volatile in recent weeks.
Oil prices had earlier surged sharply over fears that conflict in the Middle East could disrupt global crude supply routes, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical oil transit corridors.
However, markets later showed signs of easing after Trump suggested that negotiations with Iran were in their “final stages". Reuters reported that both Brent crude and US oil prices fell significantly following those remarks.
