An AI clip shared by an Iranian embassy mixes satire with messaging as digital propaganda takes centre stage

The Iranian Embassy in Russia has released yet another video mocking Trump and the situation involving the Strait of Hormuz. In the video, a Minion-style version of Trump is shown floating on a wooden plank with a US flag, confidently saying he’ll “count to three" and expects the Strait of Hormuz to reopen. Nothing happens.

Around him, other Minion characters representing countries like the UK, France, Japan and the UAE appear to cheer at first, but things quickly shift. An “Iranian Minion" presses a red button, and warning tape drops across the Strait again and again, showing control tightening rather than easing.

Trump’s character keeps insisting things will change, but they don’t. The whole thing plays out like a joke, but the message is clear.

This isn’t the first time Iranian diplomatic accounts have shared content like this. Over the past few weeks, they’ve been putting out a steady stream of AI-generated clips, parody videos and pop culture edits targeting Trump and the US, often tied to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.

In one clip, they chop up his speeches and mash them into a flashy music video, complete with over-the-top reactions and repeating visuals that call out his contradictions. Some posts go for humour, dropping Trump’s face into famous movie scenes and turning big, serious international messages into something lighter and easier for people to share.

There have also been posts using well-known film references, where Trump’s face is inserted into iconic scenes, turning serious geopolitical messaging into something more familiar and shareable. Some clips use split-screen edits, contrasting official statements with visuals that suggest the opposite is happening on the ground.

In a separate set of posts, Iranian accounts have used AI-generated still images showing Trump in exaggerated or symbolic scenarios, often tied to oil routes, naval presence or control over shipping lanes. These images are usually simple, but designed to be instantly understood and widely shared.

Together, these videos and images follow a similar pattern. They use humour, exaggeration and recognisable formats to package a message in a way that spreads quickly online.
