US President Donald Trump has withdrawn an invitation extended to Canada to join his proposed ‘Board of Peace’, a move that underscores the sharp deterioration in relations between Washington and Ottawa following pointed exchanges at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
In a post on his Truth Social platform late Thursday, Trump shared the text of a letter addressed to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, formally revoking the invitation.
“Please let this Letter serve to represent that the Board of Peace is withdrawing its invitation to you regarding Canada’s joining, what will be, the most prestigious Board of Leaders ever assembled, at any time," Trump wrote.

The Board of Peace is an initiative promoted by Trump as a high-level grouping of global leaders aimed at resolving international conflicts, although concrete details about its structure, membership, or mandate have not been publicly outlined.
The decision follows Trump’s combative remarks directed at Carney during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday.
Speaking after Carney had delivered a widely applauded address warning of a breakdown in the global rules-based order, Trump criticised Canada in unusually blunt terms.
“They should be grateful to us, Canada. Canada lives because of the United States. Remember that, Mark, the next time you make your statements," Trump said.
