The United States is deploying additional fighter jets to the West Asia, a US official confirmed on Tuesday, amid growing tensions in the region between Israel and Iran.
This development follows reports that President Donald Trump is considering drawing the US into the conflict by ordering a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, particularly targeting the underground uranium enrichment site at Fordow.
Trump is scheduled to meet with his national security team in the White House Situation Room at 1 pm on Tuesday (local time) to discuss US policy on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, according to the US officials who spoke to Axios.
Notably, Trump, who was in Canada for the G7 summit, cut short his trip to concentrate on the Iran crisis, telling reporters aboard Air Force One that he is not seeking a “ceasefire" but a “real end" to both the war and Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
