Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday lost his temper during a protest rally when Youth Congress workers began raising slogans in support of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
The rally, held to protest the replacement of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) with the new Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajivika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G), saw Siddaramaiah share the stage with Shivakumar, Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, ministers, MPs and legislators.
As Siddaramaiah rose to address the gathering, the workers began chanting “DK, DK," which grew louder as he reached the podium. Annoyed by the disruption, the chief minister shouted at the workers, asking them to be quiet.

“Who are those shouting ‘DK, DK’?" Siddaramaiah asked angrily, seeking an explanation from party leaders. The compere then intervened, urging the Youth Congress to remain silent and allow the chief minister to speak, but the slogans continued for several moments.
The incident comes amid the ongoing power tussle within the ruling Congress in Karnataka between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. Several MLAs and MLCs are said to be backing the Deputy Chief Minister, even as both leaders have pledged to follow the party high command’s decisions.
Speaking to reporters, Siddaramaiah expressed confidence that he would complete his full five-year term and said he had the full support of the party leadership.
