Days before stepping into maternity leave, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt struck a chord with journalists as she announced that she would soon be having a baby “any minute".

Speaking ahead of the birth of her second child, due in May, Leavitt joked that reporters would not face a shortage of statements as they enjoy direct access to her boss and U.S. President Donald Trump.

“I know all of you have the President’s phone number personally, so I have no doubt that you won’t have a shortage of statements and news from this building while I’m gone", she said during an interview with Fox News.

The remarks were widely perceived as a light-hearted acknowledgement of President Trump’s tendency to communicate with the press directly and frequently.

As the public face of the White House, Leavitt’s role involves conveying messages, acting as a bridge between the administration and the media.

She will temporarily step away from her role as she prepares to welcome her second child with husband, Nicholas Riccio (60), with whom she shares a baby boy named Nico.

Leavitt, 28, is the youngest member to represent the White House as Press Secretary.

Challenges Under Trump Administration

Karoline Leavitt has often been candid about the challenges of working under President Trump’s administration. Speaking at an event hosted by Turning Point USA, she highlighted how Trump’s unpredictable schedule keeps her on edge.

“The fact that my boss is up all night and probably going to call at any hour," Leavitt said.

The Press Secretary also shed light on the spontaneous nature of her job, saying, “there’s just so much going on all the time, breaking news".
