Melania Trump officially unveiled the White House’s Christmas decorations on Monday, and people on social media couldn’t help but bring up the past.

The theme for the Trump family’s first White House Christmas since 2020 is “Home Is Where the Heart Is.” The decor also nods to next year’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States of America.

You can get a taste in this promotional video posted on social media.

AMERICA’S CHRISTMAS

This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves and share it with the world around us. After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with endless possibilities. pic.twitter.com/VouZAtLpHU

While the first lady may have intended to remind people of 1776, many people couldn’t forget a different year: 2018, to be exact.

In an audio recording from July 2018 by Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Melania Trump’s former friend and aide, the first lady seemed irritated about being asked about children being separated from their parents when she wanted to talk about “working on Christmas planning.”

She was also miffed that the duties of coming up with White House Christmas displays fell on her, which inspired this infamous declaration: “Who gives a fuck about Christmas stuff and decoration?”

Trump may have changed her tune about the holiday in the last seven Christmas seasons, but many people on social media decided not to let the internet forget her previous antipathy.

That's funny. 1st, her home is in New York. She doesn't live in the White House, and only shows up if she's paid. 2nd, those used to be American values, no more. 3rd, "who gives a f* about the Christmas stuff and decorations?** But I need to do it, right?"

Once again Melania is clueless on Christmas. The theme is supposed to be home is where your heart is but nothing in her display shows that. She also has a be best ornament on the tree.

Melania Trump’s infamous 2018 f-bomb isn’t her only Christmas controversy.

Her 2017 decision to decorate the East Wing hallway with stark white branches spawned a meme and comparisons to horror movies, while The Washington Post declared her 2018 assortment of crimson trees a “nightmare forest” reminiscent of costumes in “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

Since then, of course, the East Wing has been reduced to rubble to make way for President Donald Trump’s ballroom.
