The County arrest affidavit stated that the boy had initially told his mother that he attempted to throw a water bottle with gasoline into a fire when it erupted and burned his legs. However, later the boy’s father found a video showing that he’d been set on fire by Ming. He then contacted the sheriff’s office with the video.
The incident reportedly happened while a group of friends were on the island. The officer quoted Ming asking the boy: “Do you want to be set on fire?"
He held the gas can and created a trail with the gas before throwing it on the victim, police said, adding that the trail ignited and the boy caught fire. After this, the boy rushed to the lake to extinguish the flames.
Police quoted witness saying that there was no argument nor any indication of Ming hurting the boy maliciously.
Police added that Ming will face felony aggravated battery charge.
